ORGANIZATION OF WOODLAND LAKE BOARD MEETINGAPRIL 9, 2002
The monthly meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Members present were: Anita Grapentien – President Stan Lawrence Frank Ducato Chuck Pendleton Ray Howard Tim Roberts Paul Jermanus Doug Taylor Minutes
A motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held March 12 was made by Paul Jermanus, seconded by Chuck Pendleton and approved by the board.
Treasurer’s Report
Ray Howard presented the Treasurer's Report. The balance in the checking account is $12,337.15. A credit of $75.00 from overpayment of director's insurance will be added to the balance. A safety deposit box has been established at Standard Federal Bank in Brighton. The annual cost is $100.00. A motion to approve the report was made by Chuck Pendleton, seconded by Doug Taylor and approved by the board.
Committee Reports
SewerNo sewer meeting was held since the last OWL meeting.
Weed ControlAnita Grapentien stated that an application for a permit to control weeks was submitted in January. We have not received the permit but we are #417 on the list and the DEQ is currently working on #383.
DamAnita Grapentien stated that Andy Blystra inspected the dam on Wednesday, March 27 and will submit a new report to DEQ.
Water QualityDoug Taylor stated that the Drain Commission conducted a test in January and found unacceptable levels of phosphorous and also found high heavy metal counts. No petro chemicals were detected. Another test will be scheduled in late May.
Old Business
Attorney David Haywood will be invited to attend a meeting in June or July. Submit any questions you have to John Holmes for consolidation. The questions will be forwarded to Mr. Haywood prior to his visit.
Donna (Brighton Township) is still working on the petitions to extend the current SAD. They should be ready for signatures by the next meeting.
We have a safety deposit box at Standard Federal Bank in Brighton. Anita Grapentien and Ray Howard each have a key. Any board member can access the box as long as two board members are present and they document the date of access and identify anything that was removed. The documentation must be given to the President of the Board.
New Business
Doug Taylor stated that the Clark Lake Association is sponsoring a seminar at the Brighton Township Fire Hall at Hyne Road and Old 23, Thursday, May 23 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Experts from MSU will discuss Weed Identification and Alternatives to Chemical Weed Control.
Paul Jermanus submitted a preliminary financial report and an actual cost V's budget report for the current year, including 10-year actual costs, for review and discussion. Modifications and updates to the report were suggested and will be presented again at the next board meeting.
Chuck Pendleton will pursue the possibility of putting the booklet he is preparing on a web site to save the cost of printing and distribution. Notices will be provided to the membership with information about the web site and how it can be accessed.
The Quick Claim Deed to the dam, which was recorded January 19, 1987 at 2:17 p.m., has been located and can be found at the Register of Deeds office in Howell under lever 1203, page 065.
The Annual Meeting will be Wednesday, May 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Brighton Township Fire Hall at Hyne Road and Old 23. Anita Grapentien, Weed Control, Doug Taylor, Water Quality, Ray Howard, Treasurer's Report and Paul Jermanus, Financial Reports will present committee reports. Doug Taylor, Dennis Shoner or Anita Grapentien will present the Dam report. Doug Taylor will handle elections.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brighton Township Fire Hall.
