Congratulations and Best Wishes Evelyn HAPPY CENTURY
Woodland Lake’s oldest resident, Evelyn (Loranger) Beamish of Causeway Drive, celebrated her 100th birthday on May 17. A reception in her honor was held on Sunday May 19th at the Brighton VFW Post.
Mrs. Beamish was born on May 17, 1903 in what is now East Detroit. She has three sons, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In 1955 her family bought property on Woodland Lake for a summer cottage retreat; in 1968 she and her husband moved here permanently.
Mrs. Beamish’s civic contributions are many … a few highlights are: very active in St. Patrick’s church (seniors group), an esteemed member of the VFW Woman’s Auxiliary (71 years), Brighton Senior Citizens (“For years I was in charge of the kitchen”), and a maker of over 1700 lap robes donated to nursing homes and VA hospitals all over the State. Over 100 years she has made countless other contributions in addition to these few mentioned here.
“Do meaningful work and keep moving,” were words of advice given by Evelyn when asked about her secret to longevity.
Again, Evelyn, CONGRATULATIONS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! |
