OWL To Perform DEQ Required Dam Maintenance

This will require a Drawdown of the Waters of Woodland Lake

12 September 2003  -- The Organization of Woodland Lake is required by the Michigan DEQ to do maintenance of the Dam on Woodland Lake.  This maintenance consists of repairing the spalling around the spillway area.  Please note that this spalling is considered to be a cosmetic defect and in no way affects the structural integrity of the Dam.  However, this WILL require us to lower the lake level beginning on 08 October 2003 for the duration of the project.

A Contract for the project has been let to DC Byers company based in Detroit MI.  [This was corrected to DC Byers Detroit from DC Byers Grand Rapids on 09/19/2003 - Webmaster] They will be servicing us out of their Lansing office.  They will be beginning work on the exposed sections and the rear of the spillway shortly.

On or about 08 October OWL will commence drawing down the lake in order to complete the work and allow DC Byers access to areas at or below the spillway level.  It is important that all riparians remove their boats from Woodland Lake by that date.

We anticipate posting regular updates to this site as the project progresses.  The Organization of Woodland Lake regrets any inconvenience that this drawdown may cause the ripairians but we believe that 08 October is the latest practical date that we can begin.  Please spread the word to your neighbors!
